Description : An interesting feature of the Reserve Bank of India was that at its very inception, the Bank was seen as playing a special role in the context of development, especially Agriculture. When India commenced its plan endeavours, the development role of the Bank came into focus, especially in the sixties when the Reserve Bank, in many ways, pioneered the concept and practise of using finance to catalyse development.
RAILWAY STATION
Description : Railways are serving Nagpur since 1867, when the portion of Bombay-Bhusaval-Nagpur line falling under Nagpur district area was opened for traffic. Afterwards the city was connected with Howrah during 1881 on Meter gauge by the Chhattisgarh state Railway. It was converted into broad gauge in 1881 by Bengal Nagpur Railway company. The Nagpur – Nagbhir and Nagpur – Chhindwara Narrow gauge lines formed part of old Satpura Railway. These lines ware constructed between 1904-1911. In the year 1867, the Nagpur station was situated beyond the Shukrawari Talab and empress mill on the eastern side of the present railway station, which was constructed in the year 1924.
HEDGEWAR BHAVAN
Description : In 1925, Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, a Nagpur doctor influenced by recent Hindu-Muslim riots in his town, formed the Rashtriya Swayemsevak Sangh aiming to protect Hindus by organizing together.[4] Hedgewar proposed the Hindu masses must be united to combat the challenges facing them and protect the freedom and diversity of Indian civilization. In the 1940's the development of the RSS was fueled by a desire of some Hindus to organize themselves in reaction to the growing mobilization, sometimes in paramilitary form, of Muslim separatist movements.
MLA HOSTEL
Description : MLA Hostel is the VIP type of the building. It’s basic purpose is to provide residential arrangement of the Members of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly & Maharashtra Legislative Council during Winter Assembly Session of Govt. of Maharashtra held every year at Nagpur. The building is situated in Civil Lines area & is about 1 Km from House of Assembly. It consists of 3 wings (Buildings).
SITABULDI FORT
Description : The Sitabuldi fort situated near Kasturchand Park was the site of a fierce battle between the British and the Bhonsle Empire in 1817. The battle was a turning point as it laid the foundations of the downfall of the Bhonsles and paved the way for the British acquisition of Nagpur city.
GENERAL POST OFFICE
Description : Nagpur General Post Office functions in a double storied building, situated on 9.5 acre of land. The construction of the building started in 1916-17 and was completed in 1920-21. Fine edged brick walls, strong lime concrete columns and beams, and wooden ceiling with roof tiles make the building magnificent. The main building has big verandahs and its beautiful tower stands on 12 columns, and comes with a big clock. There is a well maintained garden in front of the building. On February 1994, the Government of India declared the building as a national heritage monument.
